Phone:505-722-4090 (cell: 505-870-1687)
Artists Statement Jacquelyn feels that her work is always developing and each painting is a learning experience. It is her goal to present sensitivity thru the use of vibrant color. She believes that an artist is a special person who searches for truths and strives tenaciously to record such statements. Artists are geared to develop concepts of painting, train the eye and become sensitive to natural as well as metaphysical stimuli. In portraiture, the depiction of the human element, individual dignity and spirit are learned through living and also from knowing one’s own self. Artist's Biography Jacquelyn Kammerer Cattaneo was born in Gallup, NM and grew up experiencing the unique atmosphere of the Southwest. As a spectator of many ethnic groups and the hypnotic light that enhances the New Mexico landscape, she has developed an intuitive approach to her subject’s aura, be it a portrait, tree or landscape. Her ability to capture an individual’s inner essence as well as a vibrant likeness enhances the increasing demand for her sensitive paintings. Her art is acclaimed worldwide and collected by patrons through the United States. She is listed in Who’s Who in American Art, a signature member of The Pastel Society of the West Coast (PSWC), holding a double membership in oil and soft pastel in the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club since 1984, and was awarded permanent certification by The American Portrait Society (APSC) in 1985. She has earned a signature membership in The Pastel Society of America (PSA). Her work was included in an issue of The International Artist Magazine in 2005, featuring a soft pastel landscape. Two paintings of Cattaneo's were selected to be published in The Best of America's Pastels and Pastelists for 2007 by Kennedy Publications. Jacquelyn has acted as an invited ambassador of art through art exchanges in the following countries; Russia, the Netherlands, Turkey, Greece, the Greek Islands, Spain, Israel, Egypt, Italy, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Nova Scotia Maritime Islands. In 2004 and 2005, Jacquelyn has been awarded first and second place winnings in the medium of soft pastel. An award of Merit was received from The Pastel Society of The West Coast’s Signature & Distinguished Pastelists’ 2006 Sacramento, California Exhibition.
