About PSNM

The Pastel Society of New Mexico (PSNM) is a nonprofit arts organization formed in 1989 by a small group of artists seeking to promote the appreciation of the soft pastel medium as well as to contribute to the growing arts community in New Mexico. Although PSNM is based in New Mexico, our membership now includes artists from more than half the states in the nation.

The PSNM general meetings are always held from 10 am to 12 noon on the second Saturday of the month and begin with an overview of PSNM business, followed by an hour-long program or demonstration.

Meetings are held in the auditorium of the Albuquerque Museum of Art and History, which is located at the southwest corner of Mountain Road and 19th Street NW. They are free and open to the public, so if you are interested in learning more about pastel and PSNM, you are invited to attend as a guest.

As part of our commitment to the New Mexico arts community, PSNM is one of the four sponsors of the annual juried MasterWorks of New Mexico multimedia exhibition. For information on Masterworks and for the prospectus (when available), visit

PSNM also sponsors frequent workshops with local and national artists and exhibits members’ work at venues in and around Albuquerque. For information check the PSNM newsletter.

We also provide scholarships for student artists and maintain an extensive lending library of art books and videos for members. Click here to view library listings.
