Gil
Dellinger - Juror
www.gildellinger.com
Gil
Dellinger has participated in over 300 group and one person exhibitions.
He is a retired Professor of Art at the University of the Pacific.
He has inspired many young artists through his talent for teaching
and his own artwork, having won the Distinguished Faculty Award
for Teaching Excellence and Professional Contribution in 1990.
A Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America, Dellinger
excels in pastel painting. Painting from life, his work captures
majestic landscapes, peaceful pastoral scenes, the drama of the
Pacific Ocean, florals, and any scene that catches his eye. His
masterful technique is extraordinary. Dellinger feels the pastel
is an extension of his heart, and captures his feelings like no
other medium. He has been called a "Master Pastelist"
by the Pastel Society of America. Dellinger also paints beautifully
with acrylic, egg tempera and oils.
In 1999, Dellinger was one of fifteen artists chosen by the Grand
Canyon Trust to raft the Colorado River at the Grand Canyon and
paint for ten days. The resulting show of works were featured
in an exhibition at Forbes Gallery in New York in January 2001.
The exhibit became the centerpiece for articles in American Artist
Magazine and Art of the West. He was selected as one of the 22
artists to be invited as guests at the Forbes Chateau in Balleroy,
France to paint for a month in 1997. In 1996, he was selected
by American Artist magazine as one of 12 artists to paint on the
Forbes / Trinechera Ranch near Durango, Colorado which was featured
in the January 1997 issue of American Artist Magazine and the
works from the event were shown at the Forbes Magazine Building
gallery in New York City at a special exhibition.

Eric
Michaels - Juror
www.ericmichaelsfineart.com
Perhaps
the most distinctive feature of Eric Michaels' work is its international
flavor. The subject matter spans four continents and both hemispheres.
Painting in these various locations enables him to achieve an
understanding of local light conditions and to participate in
the native experience. Michaels still loves to travel. His art
has taken him to exotic destinations in Africa, Europe, Central
America and Indonesia. He also loves to paint the rich culture
and landscapes of the region surrounding his home in Trinidad,
Colorado.
Michaels was born and raised in Illinois. As a young boy, he cultivated
an early appreciation for music and art. He spent a great deal
of time drawing sports figures and Disney characters, and studying
guitar with an old vaudeville banjo player. With the folk scene
booming in the sixties, Michaels paid his way through college
teaching guitar and performing in coffeehouses. After graduating
with a B.F.A. in art, his wanderlust got the best of him, so he
grabbed his guitar and took off across North America. For three
years, he played clubs, coffeehouses and universities from Alaska
to Mexico. As the folk scene ebbed in the seventies, Michaels
decided to pursue a new musical venue. He began studying classical
guitar at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. In 1983, on
a music tour through the southwest, he and his wife passed through
Santa Fe and decided to stay.
The size and strength of the Santa Fe art community surprised
Michaels, and within a year he decided to give up his music performances
to concentrate on his art. He did a small bit of commercial illustration
to help pay the bills, and, shortly thereafter, had enough viable
galleries to begin making a living in fine art.
Michaels has exhibited at the Royal Watercolour Society in London,
nine years in the Artists of America Show in Denver, and is a
regular exhibitor in the Great American Artists Exhibition in
Cincinnati. His paintings hang in private, corporate, museum and
state collections; including the Albuquerque Museum of Fine Art,
the Americana Museum, the Institute of American Indian Arts, Phillips
Petroleum, IBM, Honeywell-Sperry Inc., and the State Collection
of the Governor's Gallery, Santa Fe, NM. Michaels is a signature
member of the Oil Painters of America, National Watercolor Society
and the Pastel Society of America.

Sally
Strand - Juror
www.sallystrand.com
Sally
Strand has received widespread recognition for her paintings which
celebrate familiar scenes of everyday life. "I like to watch
ordinary people caught up in the simple tasks of daily life. I'm
interested in capturing their character and I express that through
body language and gesture."
No matter what the subject matter, in every one of Sally's paintings
the subject is light. Whether the people she studies are waiting
at a bus stop, seated in a coffee shop or browsing in a bookstore,
these strikingly beautiful pastels emphasize her fascination with
light.
Sally Strand has received the Master Pastelist designation by
the Pastel Society of America. A superb colorist, she is accomplished
in her technique of using a watercolor wash followed by layers
of pastel strokes. She studied at the American Academy of Art
in Chicago and at the Art Students League and National Academy
of Design in New York. Having received national recognition and
many awards, Strand has been the subject of articles in The Pastel
Journal, American Artist, The Artist's Magazine and Southwest
Art, among others. Her work is featured in numerous books, including
Creative Pastel Painting and Pastels Masterclass, and she is listed
in Who's Who in American Artists. Her work can be seen in Galleries
in California, Arizona and Colorado.
